What started as a small mindset training initiative with two teams at Keiser University has grown into a performance development program impacting more than 150 student-athletes across multiple Seahawk programs.
Dr. Lorenda Beuker, professor and Director of Mindset & Team Success at Keiser University, has been leading innovative work focused on strengthening the mental and leadership side of sport performance. As a performance expert working directly with athletes and teams, her work integrates applied research with practical strategies that help athletes and coaches navigate pressure, recover from setbacks, and build stronger team cultures.
A former Team Canada goaltender and NCAA Division I coach at Princeton University and St. Lawrence University, Dr. Beuker brings a unique combination of elite playing experience, coaching insight, and academic research to her work in athlete development.
At Keiser University, she has developed and implemented Beuker’s Athlete Performance Training (B-APT), a structured mindset training approach designed to strengthen athlete coping skills, resilience, and overall well-being while also improving coach–athlete communication and team dynamics.
The initiative has expanded steadily through workshops, team sessions, and applied research examining how mindset training can be implemented in scalable ways across collegiate athletics.
As Director of Mindset & Team Success, Dr. Beuker continues to lead this growing effort, helping athletes and teams develop the mental strength, leadership, and awareness required to perform and thrive in high-performance environments.
